The Zero Race, an all-electric journey around the globe, started more than half a year ago in Geneva. After many teams have missed the start or suffered problems on the way, only 3 teams finally made it to the end. 80 days of riding brought them across Europe, to Asia, the North American continent and – finally – over Africa back to the starting point in Switzerland.
Beneath Team Trev and Oerlikon Solar Racing Team, it is Team Vectrix who has finished this adventurous journey. The drivers on a VX-1, Sandra Lust and Sven Lehmann, are professionals in the renewable branch and bike enthusiasts. Vectrix Germany supported the team with a used serial production bike, technical training and material for the world tour.
The team has now managed to capture all 28.000 km on the VX-1. Their vehicle is a serial production bike as anyone can buy at Vectrix dealers. Only the battery has been changed due to the long distance approach of the race – more than 250 km per charge. Therefore, the VX-1 is the first electric bike which has succeeded in such a historical race and managed the first 2-wheeled world surrounding with electric power ever.
Pictures and details can be found on the team´s website and on facebook.
